Mark your calendars for Saturday August 5th to support this very worthy cause. Park Ridge Pirates will host Kedron at home. The Charity Match this year is an opportunity for footy fans to enjoy a home game while raising much needed funds and awareness towards the support, treatment and care of seven year old Millie Taylor Johnson and one year old Archie Roberts.
Millie is a beautiful seven year old girl who has a smile who can light up a room! But behind that pretty smile is quite an unwell and exhausted little lady. Millie has had a rough time from day one; she was born prematurely, has cerebral palsy, has spent countless days in hospital battling infections and internal organ issues, and has recently been diagnosed with a deteriorative genetic disease. Millie uses a wheelchair as her muscles are very exhausted and deteriorating and as a result her parents have had to (and still need to do more) make many adjustments to their home to accommodate her wheelchair. But all of this aside, Millie still finds things to laugh about and enjoy. She loves the park and beach, playing with her therapy dog Elsie, having cups of tea and chilling out watching Netflix! It would be amazing if we could raise some much needed money to help pay for a wheelchair upgrade ($1600) as Millie has outgrown it and needs one which can recline slightly for the days where she is too weak to sit upright and to put in a wheelchair friendly path from the carport to front door ($3000).
The baby boy meningococcal could not beat: Infection hit little Archie like a bolt of lighting - but he fought back and is smiling again despite having the tips of his fingers and toes amputatedNine-month-old Archie was first diagnosed with ear infection, but then his lips turned purple and he developed a rash on his chest at hospital. He was put on life support for six days and parents were told he wouldn't make it, but Archie made an incredible recovery, undergoing 10 surgeries and skin grafts.
